In this talk, the various steps leading to the formation of a neutron star will be covered: evolution of massive stars, supernova formation and explosion, new born neutron stars, properties of neutron stars. Along the way, he will show how different aspects of advanced physics (astrophysics, nuclear physics, relativity, and so on and so forth) converge on, and are challenged by the understanding of neutron stars.
